The week has finally arrived! One of the highlights of every year is the American Akaushi Convention held in Lubbock, Texas. The convention highlights this incredible breed of cattle, high quality beef and networking and friendships with producers all across the country. If you are making the trip to join us, you won’t be disappointed and you certainly won’t be without plenty to do! Here’s the inside scoop on what we are most looking forward to at this year’s convention:
1. THE FOOD.
When high quality beef cattle is the focus of the convention, you know you’ll eat well! An absolute must at convention is the meal Saturday evening featuring HeartBrand steaks.
2. The speaker line up.
Saturday is packed with learning opportunities from the best in the business. Topics range from Pokemon to maximizing value with integrity. No matter your interest, you are sure to find a new perspective on the industry and take home some tools to increase your profitability.
3. The tours.
One of the main reasons the convention is held in the Lubbock area is the proximity to Bovina Feeders and Caviness Beef Packers. This tour is farm-to-table at its finest. Seeing how Akaushi cattle feed out, grade and hang will leave you with a true appreciation for the Akaushi breed.
4. The trade show.
One of the most exciting things about the beef industry, and specifically the Akaushi industry, is being on the cutting edge of new ideas. At this year’s trade show, producers will have the ability to see what’s new and upcoming in genetics, technology and marketing.
5. The networking.
Gathering together with fellow producers and Akaushi enthusiasts is always a true highlight. What better opportunity than to gather as a group and reflect on where we have been and discuss where we are going as a breed.
